Week Four: GAME PLAN PROGRESS

The information and the resources I need are not readily accessible like math scores or reading statistics. The process takes time, research and is not easy but anything worth having usually isnt. I am finding the information I need in order to engage students in exploring real world issues and help them in solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources (ISTE NETS-T, 2008).

Adjusting my action plan slightly will be necessary to accomplish the goal. Only certain aspects of it have been met like research via the internet, news resources and local medical profeessionals. In addition to completeing part of the research I have had successful meetings with the IT professional on campus.

Physical Education has so much technological information and digital tools I had no clue about. Every day I am learning so much about how to reach my students by differentiating instruction, modifying activities and varying assessments. I have learned about blogging, voice threads, imove, power point and so many other applications.

Many new questions and ideas have risen from how do I purchase this software for the entire school, to how can I get time during professional development to teach my colleagues. I have a new found respect for technology and how it fits into the Physical Education curriculum.

  1. It's neat to see that you are able to find resources to help with Physical Education. I know that my friend who teaches PE, has a couple websites that she gets new game ideas from to do with the kids. They are also working on writing up personal workout plans and tracking progress for the advanced PE kids. This is all done on their laptops and they log their progress. Good luck with your PE/Technology endeavors!

  2. I was once and probably still in the same place as you are. Being not so much of an expert in technology usage, before employing the great ideas I first had to learn how to manipulate the tools. Advise and help from technology teachers is good, also help form other persons who are using different tools in their lessons would be helpful. You can also check with your students themselves, throw the idea out to them, ask them about the different sites, software, and tools available to aid in their learning. Belive, me, they sometimes that teach us a great deal.

Thank you very much for the idea of tracking and monitoring workout plans on the internet. I am going to search for sites with new games that incorporate technology and help students solve real world problems like obesity.

I have friends at other schools that teach in classrooms as well as PE. They tend to be more innovative, creative with their PE lessons than I have lately, so I am collaborating with them as an action step in my GAME plan. I always say the student knows best, especially when it comes to PE skills and information so I allow them to teach in class by demonstrating often.
