Unable to Copy and Paste my GAME plan

For some reason I was not able to copy and paste or cut and paste my innitial game plan into the blog, but somehow was able to put it in the comment section of my blog. I hope you will still be able to read it and comment on it and gain some perspective on how I plan to help my students in oue Physical Education class.

  1. My GAME Plan
There is so much to learn as my content is often expressed by a toss, catch, jump, skip, slide or shot. Incorporating more technological expressions of Physical Education was so far from my scope and sequence until four or five courses ago. After reflecting on things needing to be altered to enhance my knowledge and the students as well my major focus will be on Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity (ISTE NETS-T, 2008). My game plan is described below.
    First Goal:
-Teacher will engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources (ISTE NETS-T, 2008).
    Take Action:
-View current issues directly in our community about obesity and how to combat it with Physical Education
-Research via the internet, news sources, and local medical professionals.
-Seeking out the IT professional and getting his personal help and suggestions about tools to use.
    Monitor:
-Continually thinking about and modifying my action plan, ways to incorporate more student voice.
-Gather statistically data from national sources about obesity and prevention and ways to share with the class during the content portion of instruction.
-Have class discussions where students can speak openly about personal accounts of obesity.
    Evaluate and Extend:
-Compare students data collected about obesity in a pair sharing or group method.
-Have students share or report information and findings via a power point or whatever digital tool suits their data.
-Class discussion and final survey on obesity and ways to prevent it.
    Second Goal:
-Teacher will model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments (ISTE NETS-T, 2008).
    Take Action:
-As the students are learning I am as well about blogging and about the experience of creating a power point to demonstrate content knowledge.
    - Working in groups and brainstorming to create and outline about the blog site and power point and the content to be presented within.
-Seek help from other classroom teachers who have mastered blogging and use power point in their instructional practice.
    Monitor:
-Check frequently the blog site and reactions to post.
-Visit tutorials on the internet about blogging to enhance my skills and the students as well.
-Watch an online video tutorial on blogging and power point in class with the students.
    Evaluate and Extend:
-Allow students who are familiar with power point and blogging to teach tutorials to the class.
-Use the rubric based on the standard to critique the completion of the assignment.
    - Seek professional development for incorporating technological tools in the content area.

  2. Rakeebah,
I have found your personal GAME plan very interesting, since I have never thought about the incorporation of technology into physical education classes. How cool would that be though? Incorporating technology into P.E. could add another dimension to thinking and learning about physical health. Students could utilize new technologies to research and monitor various aspects of physical health and even use spreadsheets to document and chart their fitness. I particularly like how you want to, "View current issues directly in our community about obesity and how to combat it with Physical Education." I think this plan will bring great benefits to you, the students and your school! Way to go!

  3. Rakeebah,

Your ambition to set up a blogging network for your students is remarkable to me. Your extension of having a student teach a tutorial for the technology use is an idea that I had not thought of. I often find that students who are strong in dealing with technology are often eager to share their understanding with the teacher. I had not considered to take that passion for sharing to the level of teaching their classmates.

It is really cool to help others improve their quality of life in anyway that I can, that is why I chose to go into teaching I love it. My classes often use spreadsheets to track their weekly run scores and their monthly averages. Thank you for the encouragement.

    Nicole:
The students seem to acquire the skills and understand the application of technology a lot faster than some adults. Here in my class is were I allow them to shine and be creative in showing the class new technologies that they understand. Blogging was foreign to but but wheen asking a teen they were very technical and explained it to me clearly. As teachers we wait for that ah ha moment well I got is as a student explained blogging to me so what better wy to teach than from a student perspective.
